Mounties in Coquitlam say one man was arrested Wednesday night after multiple cars — including police cruisers — were hit.

According to the RCMP, officers received reports of an impaired driver just after 10:30 p.m.

Police say when they found the vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Cottonwood Avenue and Whiting Way around 11 p.m., the driver “immediately drove into two responding police cars.”

“The vehicle then reversed down an alleyway at a high rate of speed, striking two parked vehicles in the process,” the RCMP explained in a release Thursday morning.

Mounties say police arrested one person once the vehicle stopped. Two officers suffered minor injuries, while the RCMP says the suspect was also hurt and taken to the hospital.

The Coquitlam RCMP is now asking anyone who may have dashcam footage or any video from the area of Cottonwood Avenue between Whiting Way and Marshall Street between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Wednesday to contact investigators at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2024-1993.
