Cougar sightings close Whistler-Blackcomb trails
Whistler-Blackcomb shut down several of its trails starting Sunday due to reports of cougar sightings.
The resort says the cougar activity is confirmed in the areas of Creekside and Garbanzo Zones of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, and the Ascent Trail on Blackcomb Mountain.
The closed trails include Ascent Trail, Blackcomb Bike Trails, Creekside, and Garbanzo.
“As a precautionary measure to ensure public safety, these areas will remain closed – along with the Blackcomb biking trails and Kadenwood area in Creekside – until further notice,” the resort said on social media.
Whistler-Blackcomb says it is working with the BC Conservation Officer Service to track the animals.
