Tobin Peter Haas is wanted on an outstanding B.C.-wide warrant, which has been amplified by his recent involvement in a hit and run.

Police have identified the man suspected of striking a Mountie at a traffic stop before fleeing the scene in Delta Saturday.

Tobin Peter Haas of Vancouver now has a renewed call out for his arrest, after police say he was already wanted on an outstanding province-wide warrant for breaking and entering.

Police say the 57-year-old was stopped at a traffic stop around 10:30 a.m. on Highway 91 southbound at 72nd Avenue.

Officers say Haas’ vehicle was stopped with the knowledge that it was associated with a man wanted on an outstanding B.C.-wide warrant.

However, after a brief interaction, police say Haas drove away, striking an officer and leaving them with non-life-threatening injuries.

Haas’ vehicle has since been recovered, but police say they’re still looking for Haas.

Anyone who sees Haas is encouraged by police to phone their local detachment and not approach him.

BC Highway Patrol in Burnaby says anyone with information can call 604-526-9744 and refer to file number 2024-424.
