A disclaimer for those driving in the Okanagan Monday afternoon: Hwy 97 is closed both ways just south of Peachland.

Around 1 p.m. DriveBC said it was due to a tree falling and hitting a powerline and crews were en route.

Just before 3 p.m. in an update, it said it does not have an estimated time for the highway reopening. Instead, it’s asking drivers to take a two-hour detour.

The detours recommended to drivers are: “Highway 97C to Highway 5A to Princton to Highway 3 to Highway 3A to Penticton.”
