Driver fatally strikes pedestrian in Abbotsford: police

Police say a road in Abbotsford is closed Friday morning after a driver struck and killed a pedestrian.

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says it was called to the crash on McCallum Road near Busby Road around 5:30 a.m.

First responders found a pedestrian suffering from life-threatening injuries after colliding with the driver of a pickup truck.

“The driver of the truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators,” said police, adding that impairment is not considered a factor in the crash.

McCallum Road is shut down in both directions between Marshall Road and Cannon Avenue.

The AbbyPD says it will remain closed for “several hours” while the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) investigates.
