Early-morning shooting in Delta likely targeted, police say
The Delta Police Department (DPD) says it is investigating an early-morning shooting that appears to have been a targeted incident.
Officers responded to reports of the shooting at a residence on 82nd Avenue near 113th Street around 5 a.m. Sunday.
Staff Sgt. Mike Whiteley tells 1130 NewsRadio the shots were fired into the door of a basement suite.
“It was unoccupied at the time, so there were no injuries,” he said.
Police say it is early in the investigation, but they do not believe the shooting is related to extortion.
The DPD says a suspect wearing a dark hoodie and a facial covering, as well as an associated white sedan, were caught on CCTV.
“DPD officers will be conducting door-to-door canvassing in the area. Investigators are seeking any information or video footage around the time of the incident.”
Anyone with information or CCTV or dash camera footage is asked to call the DPD at 604-946-4444 or email tips@deltapolice.ca.
