Premier David Eby is setting the record straight on what happened with Selina Robinson’s resignation from her cabinet position.

Eby says despite reports that he asked her to step down, the decision was ultimately made by Robinson.

“Minister Robinson offered her resignation to me, twice I accepted her resignation on Monday,” Eby said.

He adds he wants to recognize this is a difficult weekend for a lot of British Columbians, and he acknowledges that Robinson played an important role for the Jewish community as a cabinet minister.

This comes after Robinson faced a storm of criticism over comments she made about the Palestinian territories, before the establishment of Israel.

On Monday, Eby announced Robinson would be stepping down from her role as Minister of Post Secondary Education and Future Skills, but will remain in the NDP caucus.

“She’s going to go and do her work, and for me, I’m going to focus on the work that’s important to British Columbians and we’re going to do that repair work going forward and I look forward to that,” Eby said.
