English Bay collision between motorboat and container ship prompts investigation
A motorboat collided with a container ship in English Bay over the weekend, which caused the pleasure craft to almost capsize.
The collision will now be investigated by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB).
The TSB says the incident happened around 11:20 a.m. on Sunday.
The motorboat began to take on water as it sustained significant damage in the collision.
Emergency teams coordinated the dewatering of the craft and eventually towed it to stabilize it.
It was moved to Eagle Harbour for a haul-out.
The investigation will start on Tuesday, which is when a TSB team will be deployed to the Port of Vancouver.
Investigators will collect information and assess the incident.
