A jewelry store in North York has been robbed for the second time this month, according to police.

Officers were called to Fairview Mall just before 8:45 p.m. for reports of a smash-and-grab robbery involving four suspects who were allegedly armed with hammers.

Authorities say they have one suspect in custody and are on the hunt for three others who fled on foot with an unknown quantity of merchandise. There is a heavy police presence in the area surrounding the mall, near Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East, while police investigate.

No suspect descriptions were released.

Earlier this month, a similar smash-and-grab robbery was reported at the same mall. Footage posted to social media shows several suspects entering a store armed with hammers. The suspects allegedly broke open the display cases and took a large quantity of jewelry.

It is unclear if the two cases are related.
