Foot passengers only on Bowen Island-Horseshoe Bay ferry

Only foot passengers will be able to travel between Bowen Island and Horseshoe Bay on Saturday, due to some scheduled maintenance work.

BC Ferries says required work will be taking place at the island’s Snug Cove terminal as part of the Snug Cove Marine Structures project that’s slated to end in March 2024.

To compensate for the lack of vehicle service, the company says a complimentary water taxi will be available between the two ports.

A free shuttle service will also be offered on Bowen Island between the terminal and the Transit Park & Ride location at 1421 Adams Road.

The water taxis will be following the same scheduled sailing times as the ferries would, BC Ferries states.

Anyone who chooses to leave their vehicle in Horseshoe Bay overnight will be able to take advantage of complimentary parking during the full-day berth closure. Reimbursement details can be found on BC Ferries’ project page.

“Despite our best efforts, we recognize some customers will be impacted when travelling on this route, and we thank the community in advance for your patience as we complete this crucial work,” the company stated.

It adds that increased noise levels are possible for people who live near the terminal.
