Loui Eriksson’s time in the NHL has come to an end.

The former Vancouver Canucks forward announced his retirement from the NHL on Monday through a statement released by CAA Hockey on Instagram.

“After a year and a half of reflection, it’s time to officially retire. Hockey has given me more than I could have ever imagined. I’ve had the highest of highs and lowest of lows, but at the end of the day, I’m so thankful for the memories that I’m bringing as I walk away from the game of hockey,” Eriksson said.

In addition to his five seasons with the Canucks from 2016-2021, the 39-year-old spent seven seasons with the Dallas Stars, two with the Boston Bruins and one with the Arizona Coyotes. Eriksson was part of the famous trade that sent Tyler Seguin from Boston to Dallas.

He last played during the 2021-22 season.

Across 1,050 NHL games, Eriksson amassed 253 goals and 613 points, finishing his career with a plus-16 rating. He was selected 33rd overall by the Stars at the 2003 NHL Draft.
