Gang-related shooting kills one in Abbotsford

Police in Abbotsford are investigating a gang-related shooting that has killed at least one person.

The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) says that the incident occurred at Siskin Drive and Sandpiper Drive at 12:38 p.m. on Friday.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they located a man with life-threatening injuries inside a residence.

“Despite the urgent lifesaving efforts of first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” APD media relations officer Sgt. Paul Walker said in a written statement.

Police did not say if they made any arrests.

However, investigators say that the incident is not connected to extortion.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation of the shooting.

Siskin Drive between Sandpiper Drive and Stellar Court was closed during the investigation.
