Police report that gunshots were fired at a radio station in Surrey.

The Surrey Police Service confirmed that Swift 1200 AM was targeted on 76 Avenue early Tuesday morning.

Staff working at the radio station called the police around 11 a.m.

“Upon arrival, SPS officers confirmed that damage to an exterior door had been caused by gunshots,” a SPS statement read.

Swift 1200 AM staff says that they believe their business had been shot at sometime overnight.

SPS Sgt. Lindsey Houghton says that police remain on location, as the newly established Provincial Extortion Task Force is taking over the lead on the investigation.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Police are asking the public to report any witnessed activity in the area by calling the Surrey Extortion Tip Line at 2364855149.

The incident happened at the offices of Radio Swift, formerly known as Spice Radio and RJ1200.

The station rebranded earlier this year after longtime owner and broadcasting legend Shushma Dutt retired.
