Highway 1 north of Hope closed after crash

Highway 1 is closed in both directions Friday morning after a serious crash between Hope and Yale.

Cpl. Dave Noon with the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service says police will be investigating for several hours, with no anticipated time for reopening.

The closure comes while a wildfire has forced the closure of the Coquihalla Highway.

Another blaze is burning close to Highway 3 — the other major route between the Lower Mainland and the Interior — but the BC Wildfire service says it does not currently pose a threat to the highway.
