The family of Harpreet Kaur Gill (pictured left), who died after being stabbed in Surrey in early December, spoke about the woman with OMNI Television in an exclusive interview.

The man who killed his wife in Surrey in late 2022 has now been sentenced to life in prison.

Harpreet Kaur Gill was found with stab wounds in the area of 127th Street and 66th Avenue in December 2022.

She was taken to hospital, where she later died. Her husband– Navinder Gill– was later charged with second-degree murder.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says he was sentenced to life in prison yesterday.

At the time, Harpreet was remembered as being a kind teacher and loving mother.

In an exclusive interview with OMNI Television in December 2022, Harpreet’s father, Jasbir Singh Bajwa, said his daughter worked as a science teacher in India and Australia before getting married in 2011. He says his daughter and her husband moved with their small family to Canada in 2015.

When she arrived in B.C., Bajwa says Harpreet worked to get her teaching credentials, eventually getting a job in Maple Ridge.

Gill will have no parole eligibility for 10 years.
