Highway 1 east of Annis Road has reopened in both directions after a rolled semi-truck forced the closure Friday morning

The rollover caused debris to spread across the highway.

Callers to 1130 NewsRadio first reported the crash around 6:10 a.m. As of 2:45 p.m., the road has completely reopened westbound, and the left lane has opened eastbound. The right lane eastbound remains closed.

Emergency crews remain on scene.

Images posted to social media Friday morning showed the truck sprawled across the full width of highway, with scattered debris, and an unknown liquid coating the road.

BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) says it was first called to the scene around 5:50 a.m.

“Two ambulances with primary care paramedics responded to the scene. There were no patients requiring hospital transport,” said BC EHS.

DriveBC is expected to post another update at 3 p.m.

As of 11:41 a.m., a photo by a resident in the area showed Highway 1 still closed off in both directions, with traffic there backed up far into the distance.
