HWY 1 though Chilliwack blocked eastbound; could last several hours

A section of Highway 1 has been blocked eastbound through Chilliwack due to a “major incident” between Young and Prest roads, DriveBC said Sunday afternoon.
Corp. Dave Noon, forensic collision reconstructionist with the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (LMD-ICARS), says there is no anticipated time for reopening, and drivers should seek alternate routes.
“Currently all eastbound lanes of travel are closed and will remain so for several hours,” Noon said.
“Expect significant delays in the area.”
BC Emergency Health Services says two ambulances were dispatched to the scene around 12:45 p.m. One person received emergency medical treatment. No patients were transported to hospital.
Callers to the station report significant backup.
