HWY 11 in Abbotsford reopens after crews removed bull from road

DriveBC says Highway 11 in Abbotsford is now “dairy-free and open” in both directions.

The highway had closed for more than an hour as emergency crews worked to remove a bull — who is unhurt — off the roadway, the Abbotsford Police Department said.

Crews had blocked off a kilometre-long stretch between McCallum and Bateman Roads as they worked to move the animal.

“The bull has been successfully tranquilized by a local veterinarian and is uninjured,” AbbyPD said on social media.

Crews loaded the bull into a trailer, police say.

Police had asked drivers to avoid the area to allow emergency vehicle access.

Crews worked with the farmer to remove the animal from the road, police say.
