IHIT shares Maple Ridge shooting victim’s identity, seeks suspect’s vehicle

Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Maple Ridge last month.

According to the Ridge Meadows RCMP, officers responded to a shooting near 246 Street and 124 Avenue shortly after midnight on Aug. 13.

Upon arrival, officers reportedly found an “unresponsive victim with apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.”

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called to the scene to take over.

In an update Friday, IHIT identified the victim as 24-year-old Austin Baillie of Maple Ridge.

“Investigators are looking to speak with those who knew Mr. Baillie and may have information related to this homicide,” said Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi, adding that police believe the shooting was targeted.

Police have shared an image of Baillie.

IHIT has also identified a suspect vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting.

Anyone with information or video of a white Nissan Rogue on Dewdney Trunk Road near 240 Street or 246 Street and 124 Avenue overnight between Aug. 12 and Aug. 13 is asked to contact the IHIT information line 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
