The Knights’ top six picks in the 2020 OHL draft have been invited to Hockey Canada’s under-17 development camp this summer.
First-rounder Ben Bujold leads a group including Kanata teammate Colton Smith, fellow second-rounder Jackson Edward, Brody Crane, Landon Sim and Isaiah George into the 113-player virtual camp scheduled for July 19-25. The half-dozen prospects are a league-best with Guelph, Kitchener, North Bay and Peterborough trailing at four apiece.
The camp will focus on player development through online education and will pave the way to selection for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, which is scheduled for Charlottetown and Summerside, P.E.I., in early November.
London associate GM Rob Simpson was part of Hockey Canada’s scouting team in the process and Knights doctor Wanda Millard will serve as tournament physician for Team Red, one of three national squads taking part in the event.
