A 17-year-old boy from Signal Hill was granted $50,000 bail after he appeared virtually before a Scarborough magistrate charged with sexual penetration of a minor.
Police said the victim, a 12-year-old girl, reported that the boy held her down at the Signal Hill Recreational Grounds and sexually assaulted her.
The police Child Protection Unit in Tobago launched an investigation which led to his arrest and charge on one count of sexual penetration.
The matter was adjourned to January 19.
The boy was ordered to report to the Shirvan Road Police Station once a week. His mother will act as surety.
