Police have charged a close male relative who surrendered to police in relation to the murder of Preysal schoolteacher Suzette Sylvester.
Police confirmed on Friday that the man was charged, and is expected to appear before a Chaguanas magistrate.
Sylvester was found dead on Monday by her mother at about 7 am. The male relative was seen fleeing their Mowlah Road Extension home moments before Sylvester was found.
He then surrendered to Chaguanas police.
Police sources said Sylvester was bludgeoned to death with a hammer. An autopsy confirmed that she died from blunt force trauma.
She is expected to be laid to rest today after a funeral at her home.
