The Langley RCMP says a pedestrian has died after they were hit by a car Monday morning.

Mounties say just after 7 a.m., officers responded to reports of the pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on 264 Street between 26 Avenue and 28 Avenue, just outside an Aldergrove neighbourhood.

“BC Emergency Health Services attended and provided emergency care for the pedestrian who has been transported to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries,” police said in a statement.

Mounties say speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the collision, and the driver remained on the scene and is helping with the investigation.

Police are urging drivers to take alternate routes while their teams investigate the crash. Police explain 264 Street will remain closed for “the majority of the day” and do not have an estimated time of reopening.

“If you were in the area and witnessed anything or have information about the collision you are asked to contact the Langley RCMP.”
