Lions Bay SAR saved stranded hikers

A group of hikers was saved by the Lions Bay Search and Rescue team on Friday after they became stranded with no mountaineering gear.

According to the LBSAR, the hikers got stuck on steep snow near the summit of Brunswick Mountain.

Search and rescue volunteers received a call for help and flew to the summit just before sunset to help the group find the trail back down.

The LBSAR says that one of the hikers, whose phone had run out of battery, strayed far from the marked trail, following a secluded creek, and became separated from their group, ultimately going missing. Fortunately, he reached a logging road and was then found by a containment team.

Nearby campers supported the search and rescue action by keeping all individuals warm around a fire.
