A shooting in Chilliwack sent one person to hospital where lockdown protocol was put in place, police say.

Sgt. Grant Floris with the Chilliwack RCMP says the shooting occurred on Nowell Street in Chilliwack, just after 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Following the shooting, a victim was transported to Chilliwack General Hospital where a lockdown was put in place to ensure their safety.

Floris adds the lockdown has since been lifted and there’s believed to be no risk to the public.

The RCMP says its investigation is ongoing and more information will be released in the coming days.
