Longtime Vancouver broadcaster Dianne Newman dies at 69

The Vancouver broadcasting community is mourning the loss of longtime anchor Dianne Newman this month.
Newman spent 19 years with CKWX, including 15 years reading morning and midday reports on 1130 NewsRadio (then called News1130), helping launch the all-news format in 1996.
She started her career at Mountain FM in Squamish and Whistler before moving on to Vancouver’s 1040 KICKS station.
Newman spent the last 13 years as a narrator for Descriptive Video Works, providing descriptions for the visually impaired.
According to an online obituary, she passed away with “peace, dignity, and grace” on April 1.
Newman is remembered as a “shining light and a mentor” who was “serious, talented, and loved what she did.”
A celebration of her life will be held in June.
She was 69.
