A man has been arrested after six thefts worth nearly $60 thousand in Burnaby.

In a release Wednesday, the Burnaby RCMP says a 41-year-old man was captured on surveillance video between Sept. 8 and 17 in six different thefts that totalled to more than $56 thousand at one retail store at Metrotwon.

“While conducting targeted enforcement in the mall on September 28, 2024, in relation to the series of thefts, Burnaby RCMP’s Community Response Team located and arrested the suspect,” Mounties said.

Mounties say targetted enforcement projects help with catching criminals like these because often “there are only a few individuals responsible for an overwhelming number of these types of crimes.”

“The partnerships our team has fostered with local businesses has gone a long way in progressing files like this into the court system,” said Sgt. Neil Jones of Burnaby RCMP’s Community Response Team.

The BC Prosecution Service has approved six charges of theft over $5,000 against Darryl John Dolan.

Police say Dolan remains in custody right now and his file is before the courts.
