Man charged with attempted murder
Toronto police have made an arrest in connection with a stabbing that left a man in his 50s with critical injuries earlier this week.
Officers were called to the area of St. Clair Avenue West and Bathurst Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Thursday for reports of a stabbing outside a Popeyes restaurant.
According to police, the victim was approached from behind and stabbed by an unidentified man who fled eastbound on St. Clair Avenue West. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday, police arrested 34-year-old Alexander Mikheil Jaenicke Maider. He faces two charges, including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 9, 2025.
