Man charged with trafficking fentanyl near Metro Vancouver transit
A Coquitlam man is in custody after allegedly trafficking fentanyl and other illicit drugs near Metro Vancouver public transit.
The Metro Vancouver Transit Police says the suspect’s arrest on May 29 was the result of a several-month-long investigation.
During the investigation, the MVTP and RCMP seized the following:
- 373 grams of fentanyl,
- 28 grams of ketamine,
- 248 grams of cocaine,
- And a .22-calibre firearm
A 24-year-old man is now facing fifteen charges, including for weapons trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and trafficking in scheduled substances.
“We hope that the outcome of this investigation sends a clear message to anyone who wants to set up a criminal enterprise on or around the transit system that Transit Police will make it extremely difficult,” said Sgt. Dustin Szakacs.
Court records show the suspect is expected back in court on Wednesday.
