Man in custody after Deep Cove closure

Mounties in North Vancouver say one man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act Saturday after an incident shut down Deep Cove.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, police advised the public to avoid the area of Eastridge Road near Lockehaven Road due to an “unfolding police incident.”
In an update Monday, the North Vancouver RCMP says it was originally responding to reports of a “distraught man with a gun in a vehicle” in the area.
Around 5 p.m. Saturday, Mounties posted on social media that the situation had ended.
“The unfolding incident has been concluded safely,” they said on X. “One person has been taken into custody.”
The RCMP says the incident ended “peacefully” thanks to the Integrated Emergency Response Team and crisis negotiators.
The man was safely and “immediately transported to hospital for treatment,” police added.
