Man injured during arrest for allegedly peeing on North Vancouver RCMP building
The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO) is seeking witnesses after a man was injured during his arrest for allegedly urinating on the North Vancouver RCMP detachment building.
The IIO says the RCMP was called to help discharge a man from Lions Gate Hospital around 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 28.
“Shortly thereafter, the man was reportedly observed urinating on the North Vancouver RCMP detachment building located across the street from the hospital,” the IIO said Monday.
Police arrested the man and transported him back to the hospital with an injury.
The office says it’s investigating to see if his injury meets the definition of “serious harm,” and if the actions of the officers involved were “necessary, reasonable, and proportionate in the circumstances.”
Witnesses to the arrest who have not already provided a statement are asked to contact the IIO at 1-855-446-8477 or via the contact form on the iiobc.ca website.
