Man installed tracking devices on vehicles at Yorkdale mall: police
A Montreal man is facing more than a dozen charges after he was allegedly caught installing a tracking device on a vehicle at a Toronto mall.
Toronto police say officers were called to the Yorkdale Shopping Centre parking lot around 3:20 p.m. on Saturday for reports of a suspicious incident.
Investigators allege a man was seen kneeling next to a Range Rover vehicle before walking away. Mall security were notified who in turn called police.
Officers located a tracking device on the vehicle and a further investigation led to police finding a tracking device on another Range Rover in the mall parking lot.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and police seized an illegal firearm.
In a release, police say 26-year-old Montreal resident Yannis Demmouche is facing 14 charges including two counts of criminal harassment and several weapons offences.
He was scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom on Sunday morning.
