Police in Delta say a man has been arrested after allegedly starting two fires at the same restaurant over two days.

Officers say they spotted a fire in a disposal shed near the restaurant along Scott Road on Feb. 1.

After scanning surveillance footage, police say they were able to identify a suspect and arrested a 59-year-old man.

Insp. James Sandberg with the Delta Police Department says the suspect is also accused of starting a fire in the same spot a day earlier.

“The suspect was arrested and released on an undertaking with two charges of arson reccommended,” Sandberg said.

No injuries or major damage to the restaurant were reported, he adds.

“We’re fortunate that the main building didn’t receive significant damage, the damage was contained to the fencing around the disposal area and the dumpsters within it,” Sandberg said.
