A man has been sentenced in relation to the killing of a 22-year-old Abbotsford woman in 2017.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says Gary Losch has received a 10-year sentence for manslaughter and two years for indignity to human remains.

Abbotsford police say they first received a report that Chelsey Gauthier was missing on July 30, 2017. Police found her body on Aug. 16, 2017, in the area of Sylvester and Dale roads in Mission, at which point IHIT took over the investigation.

On Sept. 10, 2022, Losche was charged with second-degree murder and indignity to human remains in connection to the killing. On July 22, 2025, he was found not guilty of second-degree murder but guilty of manslaughter and indignity to human remains.

Losche’s sentences will be served consecutively, IHIT says.
