Man taken to hospital after shooting that was likely targeted, says Burnaby RCMP

The Burnaby RCMP says it is investigating after a man was shot near the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course Friday evening.

Police say it happened shortly before 9 p.m. in the area of Woodbrook Place and Burnwood Drive.

“When officers arrived, they located a man with a gunshot wound,” Mounties said.

“The man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

The RCMP says the incident appears to be targeted.

Cpl. Mike Kalanj tells 1130 NewsRadio the victim was a young man who is a resident of the area. He says there is no further risk to the public.
