Man wanted for alleged sexual assault in Whitby

Police in Durham Region are searching for a man who is wanted in connection with an alleged sexual assault that took place in Whitby earlier this month.

Officers say a woman called police and reported that she was sexually assaulted after accepting a ride from a male suspect near Simcoe Street South and Hall Street in Oshawa at approximately 2:30 a.m.

According to police, the suspect drove the victim to the area of Moore Court and William Smith Drive in Whitby where he allegedly committed the assault.

He is described as a male between 40 and 50 years old with brown skin, a large build and a black beard. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a newer model black pickup truck with automatic running boards and black leather seats. Authorities say the victim reported seeing construction helmets in the back seat.

Investigators encourage anyone who may have been in the area of Simcoe Street South between Olive Avenue and Highway 401 on January 12, 2025 between 2:15 a.m. and 3:15 a.m., to contact police.
