Holiday spirits were high at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB) Thursday when a local music legend showed up to help out.

Burnaby-born Michael Bublé volunteered alongside staff, handing out Senior’s Program Packs to clients.

“What began for some as a regular food bank visit quickly turned into an unforgettable Christmas moment as clients realized who was volunteering that day,” the food bank said.

“The visit brought joy to the GVFB’s Vancouver location, underscoring the power of human connection.”

Bublé has been a longtime supporter of many charitable and creative organizations, including BC Children’s Hospital, the Burnaby Hospital Foundation, and the Arts Club Theater Company.

“I’ve been lucky enough to stand on some pretty big stages, but the moments that matter most are the ones where we show up for each other,” he said.

“The Greater Vancouver Food Bank reminds us that community is about dignity, compassion, and making sure no one has to face hard times alone. It’s about neighbours helping neighbours, making sure everyone feels cared for and supported when life gets tough.”

The star has also launched a virtual food-drive fundraiser for the GVFB on the organization’s website.

“Inspired by that same sense of connection and generosity, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank invites you to support this Virtual Food Drive,” the campaign reads.

“Your gift helps provide dignified access to food for individuals and families across Metro Vancouver, especially during a time of year when the need is greatest.”

For every dollar donated, the GVFB says it can double the value.

As of Saturday afternoon, the campaign has raised $12,700 of its $50,000 goal. Donations can be made here.
