Border agents at Vancouver International Airport have seized narcotics destined for export worth over $69 million.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says it detected and seized the drugs on September 3.

The narcotics include 300 compressed powder bricks of 319 kilograms of cocaine and 110 vacuum-sealed packages of 241 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The drugs were concealed in a shipment of car parts destined for Australia.

The seized drugs were confiscated by the RCMP, and the investigation is ongoing.

“CBSA officers and RCMP Border Integrity officers worked together seamlessly from detection to seizure to the ongoing investigation,” said Stephen Lee, Acting Regional Commander at RCMP Federal Policing, Pacific Region.

“Together we are dismantling the criminal networks that attempt to exploit our borders, and we’ll continue this collaborative approach to protect our communities.”

The border agency says that this represents one of the CBSA’s largest narcotics seizures destined for export at the airport.

“This seizure represents millions of dollars kept out of the hands of criminals and demonstrates the strength in collaboration with our law enforcement partners,” said Nina Patel, regional director general at the CBSA, Pacific Region.
