New Westminster restaurant’s burger poll predicts election winners

With the federal election just around the corner, Canadians are hoping candidates will put their money where their mouth is.
But one local burger joint is hoping you will put your mouth where your vote is.
In a long-standing tradition, Burger Heaven in New Westminster is conducting its “Bun-Official” election poll, which gives diners the chance to select their top choice for federal leader by purchasing a burger.
This year, the Mark Carney burger — which is “seasoned” and “Lean-to-the-Middle” with a “liberal” slab of bacon — is the most popular, with 41 per cent of the vote.
In second place, the Pierre Poilievre burger — “Lean-to-the-Right” with a “conservative” slice of Alberta aged cheese — is in second place at 18 per cent.
The Jagmeet Singh burger — featuring a “Lean-to-the-Left” Nicely Done Patty with Scarborough orange cheddar — is the third most popular, with 15 per cent of diners.
The Elizabeth May/Jonathan Pedneault and Yves-Francois Blanchet burgers come in with 4.5 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively.
The remainder of those polled are bun-decided.
Burger Heaven has been conducting burger polls for 34 years.
Hungry voters have until April 27 to cast their votes.
