Newborn infant dies in dog attack west of Edmonton

Police say a newborn baby was fatally injured in a dog attack at a home west of Edmonton Sunday.

Evansburg RCMP says the 14-day-old infant sustained a serious life-threatening injury inside a home around Entwistle.

The baby was transported by STARS to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, where the infant was pronounced dead.

Authorities did not specify which breed of dog was involved, but they say the animal was surrendered.

Evansburg RCMP is investigating.

Entwistle is about 100 kilometres west of Edmonton.
