North Shore Rescue helicopter helps save hiker suffering from allergic reaction

North Shore Rescue’s (NSR) Talon helicopter was summoned after a hiker on a trail near Mount Seymour had an allergic reaction, search manager Dave Barnett tells 1130 NewsRadio.

Barnett says the patient was hiking on Dog Mountain trail when the reaction kicked in. NSR was called around noon, he says.

“District of North Van Fire was with the patient and requested our assistance to fly her out, given the severity of a potential nut allergy,” he said.

“We flew her out to the parking lot at Mount Seymour, where she was transferred on to BC Ambulance.”

Barnett says the pleasant weather means NSR might have a busy day.

“It’s a beautiful sunny day, and everyone wants to get out,” he said.

“So those are the busy afternoons for us.”

We have reached out to BC Emergency Health Services for more information about the status of the rescued hiker.
