North Vancouver RCMP arrest man allegedly impersonating police

A man accused of impersonating a police officer was arrested by the North Vancouver RCMP earlier this month.
Mounties say they got reports of a Ford F-150 with flashing red and white lights that pulled over a Tesla on March 1.
“During the interaction, the driver of the F-150 identified himself as a North Vancouver RCMP officer and had flashing red and white lights displayed,” police allege. They say the driver did not have any other police equipment or identification on him.
On March 4, the RCMP says the driver was arrested and his vehicle was seized.
Investigators believe there could be more victims than the Tesla driver and have released an image of the suspect vehicle.
“The truck has a light bar placed on the lower centre of the windshield, which resembles lighting used on police vehicles. If you recall seeing these features and had a similar interaction, we encourage you to come forward and speak with investigators,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak.

Sahak says real police carry official badges with photo ID cards and people are allowed to request to see identification.
“And if they suspect that they’re not police officers, they can also call 911… the dispatcher does have capability to verify whether they’re actually are being pulled over by a real police officer or not,” he added.
Sahak says you should trust your instincts, and, if something doesn’t feel right, call police.
Anyone who believes they might have been a victim of the alleged impersonator is asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and quote file #2025-4197.
