Mounties in North Vancouver are out with a warning after two separate incidents involving cyclists in the same area within 15 minutes Thursday afternoon.

Corp. Mansoor Sahak says one of the cyclists had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“It was the driver of the vehicle failing to shoulder-check, and the cyclist basically hit the door of the vehicle quite hard,” Sahak said.

He says its important to pay extra attention over the long weekend, because there will be more cyclists on the road due to the nice weather.

“We are advising people to just be extra vigilant and keep an eye extra eye out for cyclists,” he said.

“Do shoulder checks.”

One of the accidents was in the area of West 1st Street and Hanes Avenue, and the other was just a few blocks away.

There were no serious injuries in either of Thursday’s incidents.
