One dead after shooting at Abbotsford mall parking lot

One person is dead after a reported shooting in a parking lot of a mall in Abbotsford, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says.

The Abbotsford Police department was called to the Sevenoaks Shopping Centre on South Fraser Way just before 6 p.m. Saturday. There, officers found a 25-year-old man suffering with “serious and life-threatening injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.”

“First aid was immediately provided,” IHIT said. “However, the victim succumbed to the injuries.”

Police say early indications suggest the incident was targeted.

The Abbotsford Police Major Crime Unit is transfering the investigation, which is in the preliminary stages, to IHIT.
