One person displaced, two cats saved from Burnaby fire
One person has been displaced after a fire at a home Friday evening, the Burnaby Fire Department says.
Crews were called to the house on Woodhurst Drive near the Burnaby Mountain Golf Club just before 10 p.m.
“The crews arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the rear of the building,” Asst. Chief Steve Wolfe said.
“They were met by the homeowner, informed that the occupants were all out of the building and were accounted for.”
Firefighters found the fire had moved to the attic.
“Crews entered the building and extinguished the fire from the inside,” he said.
Wolfe says they found two cats inside the house while they were performing fire suppression procedures.
“The cats were checked by on-scene crews and returned to the occupants.”
No injuries — human or feline — were reported, Wolfe says.
