Pedestrian dies after being hit by truck in Abbotsford
One person has died after a collision in Abbotsford early Sunday morning.
Police were called to the area on Harris Road near Ross Road just before 8 a.m. after reports of a collision between a truck and a pedestrian.
When they arrived, they found a white Dodge pickup truck had hit a pedestrian and had also sheared off a power pole.
“Despite immediate efforts by civilians and first responders, the pedestrian sadly succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” said Const. Jody Thomas of the Abbotsford Police Department.
Thomas says the driver stayed at the scene and was arrested for impaired driving.
The damage to the power pole did not cause any outages.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) has been called in to investigate.
Anyone with any information or dash cam footage of the crash is asked to call the AbbyPD at 604-859-5225 and quote file 2025-5632.
Police have closed Harris Road between Mount Lehman and Ross Road to investigate.
