Police say a pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a hit and run in Delta Sunday morning.

The Delta Police Traffic Unit says it received reports of a hit and run in the intersection of 66th Avenue and Scott Road around 7 a.m.

When they got to the scene, they found a 25-year-old Surrey man suffering from “serious and extensive” injuries.

The vehicle and driver had left the scene of the accident.

Police say the suspect vehicle is a black car, most likely a sedan. It was travelling south on Scott Road at the time of the crash.

There is no word on arrests.

Scott Road was closed in both directions between Wade and 64th for several hours as police investigated. It reopened late afternoon Sunday.

Police are asking the driver to come forward. Any witnesses or anyone with any information or dash cam or CCTV footage is asked to call the Delta Police at 604-946-4411 and quote file number 2025-1521.
