A pickup truck drove through barriers and into the water at a BC Ferries terminal Friday morning, the Comox Valley RCMP says.

Officers responded to the call at the Denman Island terminal shortly before 7 a.m.

“BC Ferries staff acted very quickly and assisted the driver and passenger in getting out of the water safely,” Mounties said in a news release.

“The driver and passenger sustained seemingly minor injuries, and one was transported to hospital.”

The circumstances are still under investigation, and impaired driving is being considered as one of the factors.

“Criminal charges will be recommended if deemed appropriate based on a thorough review of all evidence gathered,” the RCMP said.
