Police in Burnaby seize 97 kilograms of illicit drugs
The Burnaby RCMP announced that its Gang Enforcement Team (BGET) has seized over 97 kilograms of illicit drugs and $70,000 in cash on Dec. 17.
Police say that after a 6-month-long drug trafficking investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for a suspect’s residence in New Westminster.
This resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old male suspect.
According to police, the BGET seized 15 kilograms of cocaine, 41 kilograms of methamphetamine, 30 grams of fentanyl, and 41 kilograms of cannabis.
“The seizure has a street level value of nearly $4 million,” the Burnaby RCMP said in a written statement.
Additionally, illicit drug cooking materials and money counters were reportedly found at the residence.
The investigation into how the suspect amassed that many illicit drugs is ongoing.
