Police investigating homicide at Abbotsford hotel
The Abbotsford Police Department says it is investigating a homicide at a hotel Thursday morning.
Officers were called to the hotel on Marshall Road shortly after 11:30 a.m. after a report of a “suspicious circumstance.”
“Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and confirmed the incident was contained to a room within the hotel,” Sgt. Paul Walker said in a news release.
“Further evidence was quickly obtained, confirming the incident as a homicide.”
Walker says the incident was isolated with no risk to the public. It is not believed to be related to extortion.
A man has been arrested and remains in police custody, Walker said.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation.
